Position Summary

With 524 beds, The Wesley Hospital provides tertiary level medical and surgical services across 30 specialty areas including cardiology, urology, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, maternity and women’s health. These services are supported by an intensive care unit, coronary care unit, cardiac catheter theatres, 24-hour emergency centre, renal dialysis, radiology, radiation therapy, pathology, pharmacy services, IVF, haematology and oncology services.


We are currently seeking to appoint a Patient Liaison Officer to join our Patient Services Team in a Permanent Full Time Opportunity


Responsible for the pre-admissions and admissions of our patients, you will provide an exceptional level of quality and customer service through processing all planned and unplanned admissions in a timely and efficient manner. You will ensure all patients have financially consented to care, and accurately process and verify all details prior to admission.


You will be responsible for:

  • Providing exceptional customer service to every patient of the Wesley Hospital and their families and loved ones during their admissions process
  • Processing all Preadmission registrations and documentation via HABS in a timely manner
  • Liaising with relevant services providers to seek approval documents for admission
  • Providing estimates for hospitalisation costs in line with TWH fees and charges
  • Processing admissions accurately ensuring all documentation and payments are taken
  • Completing health fund checks and collecting patient financial details
  • Other administrative duties involved in the admissions and preadmissions process

To be successful you will demonstrate:

  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work 10-12 hour shifts
  • Ability to work Night Duty on Rotation
  • Prior Hosptial Administration Experience (Desirable)
  • Understanding of Private Health Insurance and Health Fund Eligibility (Desirable)
  • Previous experience managing other staff (Desirable)

Please note: Hours of the role are within 06:00-03:00 with shift times including 06:00-16:30, 16:30-3:00 and 08:30-21:00. Please be aware that shifts range from 10 to 12 hours.

Selection Criteria Desirable: Do you have any prior hospital administration experience?
Desirable: Do you have any experience or understanding around private health insurance policies and/or health fund eligibility?
Essential: The role requires you to work 10 and 12 hours shifts. Are you able to work these duration of hours?
Essential: The role requires you to work a portion of night duty on rotation with other Patient Liaison Officers (1630-300). Can you work night duty?
Essential: The role has only 3 different shift times. 0600-1630, 1630-300 and 0830-2100 (can vary and not set). The role requires cover 7 days a week. Can you work Monday to Sunday on a rotating roster and the hours set out?
Desirable: Do you have any prior experience with managing staff?
