Position Summary

The Wesley Hospital provides tertiary level medical and surgical services across 30 specialty areas including cardiology, urology, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, maternity, Special Care Nursery and women’s health. These services are supported by an intensive care unit, coronary care unit, cardiac catheter theatres, 24-hour emergency centre, renal dialysis, radiology, radiation therapy, pathology, pharmacy services, IVF, haematology and oncology services.

 

We are currently seeking to appoint a Clinical Nurse Manager to lead our Maternity Services at The Wesley Hospital.

 

As the Clinical Nurse Manager for Maternity, you will provide advanced management, professional leadership and operational direction for the maternity services.  You will ensure exceptional delivery of patient-centred care, through high quality clinical service outcomes.

 

A diverse role, you will: 

  • Achieve optimal patient outcomes and objectives through effective leadership and direction
  • Build a cooperative working environment between members of a multi-disciplinary team, applying your communication and team leadership skills in building a high functioning and outcome focused unit. 
  • Assess and respond appropriately to midwifery/nursing issues and clinical escalations
  • Manage performance related conversations with team members, including opportunities for development, learning, and improvement.
  • Maintain professional standards of practice through the evaluation of midwifery/nursing services and through applying key management strategies
  • Effectively manage procurement and allocation of resources, including recruitment and budgeting to achieve optimal service objectives
  • Apply strict clinical and risk management processes to ensure quality safe practice standards for you team
  • Drive a working culture that aligns to UCH’s organisational values an commitment to it’s employees

 As an experienced Clinician, you will demonstrate:

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively lead a multi-disciplinary team
  • Clear commitment and understanding of best clinical practice in your field
  • Advance clinical problem solving skills
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience mentoring and coaching a comparable size team
  • Post graduate qualification and experience in Midwifery
  • Tertiary qualifications in people management/leadership (highly desirable)
