Position Summary

UnitingCare Health (UCH) is one of the largest not-for-profit private hospital groups in Queensland and is a service group of UnitingCare Queensland. The hospital group is a major provider of healthcare services in Queensland which operates almost 1000 licensed hospital beds and employs over 4200 people.

 

UCH is seeking a Clinical Informaticist to join our Clinical Informatics and Application Team. We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic person with a healthcare background who will work as part of our team as we enhance and support our Clinical Information Technologies and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) across our organisation.

 

Reporting to the Lead Clinical Informatics Officer, the Clinical Informaticist will be responsible for promoting the understanding, integration and application of clinical information technology across UCH.  You will facilitate continuous improvement and optimisation of technology ensuring adherence to best practice and standards.   As the Clinical Informaticist you will be accountable for:

  • Coordinating activities with other departments and work groups to ensure timely and efficient work processes;
  • Participating in identifying design requirements for clinical applications that compliment clinical workflows;
  • Utilising system analysis outcomes to support the efficient and effective use of clinical applications;
  • Working with team members, vendors and Digital and Technology, to investigate, address and resolve questions or issues with clinical applications;
  • Troubleshooting problems and inefficiencies in clinical applications in consultation with clinical customers;
  • Developing expertise in clinical applications, design, architecture capabilities and systems supported by UCH;
  • Participating in education of end-users in new clinical applications to support acceptance and use.

Ideally, the successful applicant will demonstrate the following criteria:

  • Relevant clinical experience or healthcare background;
  • Good communication skills to assist with mentoring and guidance of customers to work with applications;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic support to the organisation by analysing and interpreting data to provide creative solutions;
  • Ability to assess and document business workflows for current and future state environments;
  • Demonstrate ownership of applications, customers, implementation, adoption and optimisation;
  • Effective time management skills;
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and also autonomously as required;
  • High levels of customer service with the ability to manage SLA timeframes;
  • Interest and understanding of Information Technology systems.
