UnitingCare Health is one of the largest not-for-profit private hospital groups in Queensland and is a service group of UnitingCare Queensland. The hospital group is a major provider of healthcare services which operates almost 1000 licensed hospital beds and employs over 4200 people.

 

Allied Health comprises support staff and health professionals from Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Nutrition, Exercise Physiology, Nursing and Psychology.

 

We are currently seeking an Allied Health Assistant to join our Allied Health team. The role consists of both clinical and non-clinical duties, including assisting therapists with the delivery of rehabilitation programs, clerical duties and the management of resources and equipment.  As the Allied Health Assistant you will be responsible for: 

  • Patient care duties which may include assistance with dressing, fitting splints, patient mobility, supervision of group classes and accompanying staff and patients offsite;
  • Utilising the communication framework tool to greet all patients and staff;
  • Ensuring equipment is maintained safely;
  • Sourcing equipment and reporting any faults or availability issues;
  • Admission and discharge of day patients;
  • Booking and coordination of patient appointments;
  • Data entry;
  • Other duties as directed by Allied Health staff. 

To be successful in this role you will possess: 

  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (AHA) or currently studying qualification or commenced tertiary education in an appropriate field, such as Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy or Exercise Physiology;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (a working knowledge of medical terminology an advantage);
  • Ability to prioritise a busy workload;
  • The ability to work both independently and as a member of the team;
  • Excellent computer skills (including Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word & Excel).
  • A current, open Queensland Drivers Licence
