Position Summary

UnitingCare Health is one of the largest not-for-profit private hospital groups in Queensland and is a service group of UnitingCare Queensland. The hospital group is a major provider of healthcare services in Queensland which operates almost 1000 licensed hospital beds and employs over 4200 people.

 

Reporting to the Group Executive UnitingCare Health, the Director of Clinical Governance will be responsible for establishing and implementing a robust program that will meet and exceed the required standards for Hospital accreditation, compliance and governance to improve patient care.

  

The primary objectives of this role are:

  • To develop and lead the implementation of risk, quality management strategies, programs and projects UCH-wide, and support the UCH Strategic Plan and assist develop a culture of integrated risk management at all levels of UnitingCare Health (UCH).
  • To develop UCH-wide risk and quality management plans in accordance with the UCH strategic plan and implementation of actions to achieve agreed outcomes.
  • Provide Executive leadership, direction and advice to the UCH Executive Director (ED), UCQ Audit Risk and Compliance Committee (ARCC), UCQ Quality Committee Executive Leadership Team, Hospital Executive Teams, Quality and Risk Managers
  • To work with the SLT to lead the UCH Facilities through a process of shared learnings and initiatives to improve patient care and create efficiencies across the Group.

The successful applicant may have qualifications and experience in the following areas-

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Risk Management, Quality Management or Clinical Governance (or related discipline).
  • Post Graduate qualifications in leadership and management (or equivalent)
  • 5-10 years management experience
  • Demonstrated experience in a Clinical Governance, Risk and/or Quality  Management in a senior health care role.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in risk management methodology and techniques and implementation of integrated risk management frameworks
  • A thorough understanding of Hospital Accreditation program, requirements quality cycle and evaluation and evidence requirements.
  • A desire to add value to an organisation through the professional application of quality initiatives based on a solid understanding of customer service and performance management.
