Position Summary

With 524 beds, The Wesley Hospital provides tertiary level medical and surgical services across 30 specialty areas including cardiology, urology, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, maternity and women’s health. These services are supported by an intensive care unit, coronary care unit, cardiac catheter theatres, 24-hour emergency centre, renal dialysis, radiology, radiation therapy, pathology, pharmacy services, IVF, haematology and oncology services.


Our Supply Department is currently seeking a Purchasing Officer / Expeditor to join our team in a Permanent Full Time capacity.

You will be responsible for purchasing good and services, providing an expediting/backorder management function and assisting with general purchasing and supply administration. You will maintain good customer relationships through effective communication, offer guidance on purchasing matters, resolve day to day issues and support them during the purchasing processes.

As part of your accountabilities, you will:

  • Ensure requisitions are converted to Purchase Orders / Generating Purchase Orders
  • Undertake ad hoc purchasing for pre-approved requisitions. 
  • Compile and maintain the product trials register. 
  • Proactively undertake an Expediting function to follow up and action open / back orders. 
  • Obtain quotes and source suppliers for goods and services as requested, and liaise with suppliers to solicit favorable terms.
  • Work with Warehouse Team Leader and Stock Controller to ensure efficiency of service delivery
  • Run routine SAP reports to action / close off outstanding transactions and to identify work requirements.
  • Perform other job related duties as required by Purchasing Team Leader and / or Supply Manager

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • Minimum 3 years hospital stores / purchasing experience
  • Experience in the use of SAP / ERP systems (MRP)
  • Intermediate / advanced use of spreadsheets
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Self directed and with the ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety Principles

Selection Criteria Essential: Previous SAP / ERP and MRP experience
