UnitingCare Queensland (UCQ) provides health and community services to thousands of people every day of the year.  As the health and community service provider of the Uniting Church we have supported Queensland communities for over 100 years.  Our 15,000 staff and 9,000 volunteers care for and support people from all walks of life, including older people, people with a disability, children, families and Indigenous people.

UCQ is currently embarking on a large transformation program to help us to better position ourselves to deliver on our mission and to be sustainable in the long term.  In conjunction with this change we are now looking for an Internal Audit Manager to join our Group Risk and Assurance team.

The Opportunity

The Internal Audit Manager will be accountable for delivering UCQ’s strategic direction through management of the Internal Audit functions.  The role resides within the Group Risk and Assurance function working alongside other risk and assurance professionals.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring the Internal Audit team undertakes appropriate and timely audits of the design and operational effectiveness of governance, internal controls, risk and compliance systems across the organisation;
• Ensuring that UCQ operates in accordance with The International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing;
• Implementing an internal audit methodology, approach and structure that meets the requirements of UCQ’s internal audit charter and protocols;
• Proactively maintaining awareness of evolving regulatory, funding and accreditation requirements, including knowledge sharing across UCQ where appropriate;
• Evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of the financial and business system controls that are in place to guard against fraud or loss;
• Preparation of timely, accurate and meaningful internal audit and compliance reports, including summary status reports for the Audit and Risk Committee;
• Work with UCQ leadership to develop the three lines of defence model within UCQ;
• Leadership of the Internal Audit team to ensure daily, weekly and monthly KPI’s are achieved.
  
   

Your Background

You will ideally have the following:

• Tertiary qualifications in business or a related field;
• Significant experience in the coordination, planning and implementation of internal audit programs and procedures;
• Membership of CA, CPA and/or Certified Internal Auditor will be highly regarded;
• Demonstrated experience in a Senior Internal Audit and management position with a strong understanding of contemporary internal audit practices;
• Experience in implementing best practice organisational compliance programmes;
• Demonstrated experience in the development and presentation of reporting to various Executive Committees;
• Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management at all levels of the organisation;
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including intermediate computer skills.

Knowledge of the health and/or community services sector will be highly regarded.
