UnitingCare Health (UCH) is one of the largest not-for-profit private hospital groups in Queensland and is a service group of UnitingCare Queensland. The hospital group is a major provider of healthcare services in Queensland which operates almost 1000 licensed hospital beds and employs over 4200 people.

 

With 524 beds, The Wesley Hospital (TWH) provides tertiary level medical and surgical services across 30 specialty areas including cardiology, urology, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, maternity and women’s health. These services are supported by an intensive care unit, coronary care unit, cardiac catheter theatres, 24-hour emergency centre, renal dialysis, radiology, radiation therapy, pathology, pharmacy services, IVF, haematology and oncology services.

 

The Patient Services department is currently seeking an experienced Patient Services Officer to join their team.  Reporting to the Patient Services Manager, the Patient Services Officer will be accountable for: 

  • Provision of timely and accurate clerical service and providing quality information for all enquiries;
  • Advising patients of administrative information in relation to their hospital visit;
  • Managing patient electronic data and bookings in the patient management system;
  • Compiling quotes for patient and doctors rooms for hospital visits;
  • Maintaining quality control processes to ensure patients are accurately reimbursed by health funds and ensure quality customer service in relation to patients’ accounts and queries. 

Ideally, the successful applicant will demonstrate the following criteria: 

  • Demonstrated customer service skills at an advanced level;
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills;
  • Computer literacy skills at an intermediate level;
  •  Knowledge of health fund contracts;
  •  Strong attention to detail and data management skills;
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of medical terminology would be an advantage, but not essential.
