Position Summary

UnitingCare Queensland (UCQ) provides health and community services to thousands of people every day of the year through its service groups – UnitingCare Health, UnitingCare Community, Blue Care and ARRCS (Australian Regional and Remote Community Services). As the health and community service provider of the Uniting Church we have supported Queensland communities for over 100 years. Our 15,000 staff and 9,000 volunteers care for and support people from all walks of life, including older people, people with a disability, children, families and Indigenous people.

 

We are currently seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to provide technical accounting expertise and services, whilst developing stakeholder relationships and outcomes.

 

The Role

 

The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for the core financial accounting functions for the Blue Care and ARRCS businesses to drive efficiencies and develop stakeholder relationships and outcomes.

 

Reporting to the Finance Manager AX9, responsibilities will include: 

  • Developing, documenting and maintaining the delivery of financial reporting month end closure processes; 
  • Developing, documenting, and maintaining cost centre and general ledger account structures within the financial management information systems; 
  • Providing general ledger account reconciliation and verification activities; 
  • Developing, documenting and maintaining systems and processes to ensure appropriate accounting and reporting of capital expenditure and project accounting; 
  • Supporting internal and external audit requirements within the financial accounting and reporting team accountabilities; 
  • Delivering financial reporting that meets all relevant legislative, accounting standards, regulatory and organisational requirements; 
  • Act as key liaison with stakeholders on project accounting concepts and specification of business requirements as required. 

About you

 

As the successful candidate you will have the following: 

  • CA or CPA qualified; 
  • Good understanding and recent practical application of Australian Accounting Standards; 
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to maintain successful working relationships, both internal and external to the business; 
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills particularly in relation to Excel; 
  • Application of planning, coordination and time management skills to projects. 

The following skills are desirable: 

  • Understanding of Not-for-Profit business models; 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 and 2012 and BI reporting systems.
