With 524 beds, The Wesley Hospital provides tertiary level medical and surgical services across 30 specialty areas including cardiology, urology, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, maternity and women’s health. These services are supported by an intensive care unit, coronary care unit, cardiac catheter theatres, 24-hour emergency centre, renal dialysis, radiology, radiation therapy, pathology, pharmacy services, IVF, haematology and oncology services.
Our Pain Management Clinic are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse to join their multidisciplinary team. Our Pain Management rehabilitation programs use an interdisciplinary “whole-person” approach. We focus on promoting self-management plans to meet individual needs by providing education to improve patients’ knowledge and understanding. Our patients learn to implement strategies to improve their ability to manage their condition and pain experience, and gain control over their life.
As the Clinical Nurse you will be responsible for:
- Clinical leadership, implementing organisational and departmental objectives;
- Clinical coordination of the Chronic Disease and Chronic Pain programs;
- Application of clinical and workplace risk management principles, as well as knowledge of incident notification and follow-up management;
- Applying clinical practice which ensures a safe environment and promotes optimal patient care;
- Achieving optimal patient outcomes through appropriate allocation of staff and delegation of work;
- Assessing and responding appropriately to clinical nursing issues and concerns;
- Maintaining professional standards of practice through the evaluation of nursing services.
Ideally, the successful applicant will demonstrate the following criteria:
- Hold current registration as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency;
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, and thrive in a team environment;
- Passion for education and training, and be committed to personal development;
- Lead quality improvement activities within the department;
- Demonstrated post graduate nursing experience within a Rehabilitation environment;
- Demonstrated experience in managing cost effective care, including management of daily nursing hours;
- Be innovative and demonstrate an advanced level of professionalism.
