The hospital group is a major provider of healthcare services in Queensland which operates almost 1000 licensed hospital beds and employs over 4200 people.

 

With 524 beds, The Wesley Hospital provides tertiary level medical and surgical services across 30 specialty areas including cardiology, urology, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, maternity and women’s health. These services are supported by an intensive care unit, coronary care unit, cardiac catheter theatres, 24-hour emergency centre, renal dialysis, radiology, radiation therapy, pathology, pharmacy services, IVF, haematology and oncology services.

 

We have an opportunity for Medical Officer to join our ICU Medical Services team.  The successful applicant will join a dynamic team, complimented by experienced nursing staff. The successful applicant will be a Registered Medical Practitioner with special interest and experience in Intensive Care, and will meet the following criteria:

  • Registered Medical Practitioner with current registration (AHPRA);
  • A minimum 2 years experience in a hospitall setting with ability to meet the key performance indicators of the department;
  • Carry current Medical Defence insurance as Procedural General Practitioner;
  • Registered under the Medicare Agreement and possess their own provider number;
  • Clinical performance aligned with the organisation’s values;
  • Ability to build rapport and effective relationships with key stakeholders using highly developed interpersonal skills;
  • A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of continuous improvement, OH&S and risk management;
  • A strong commitment to customer service and quality outcomes;
  • Flexibility in working hours.

Selection Criteria Essential: Current registration as a medical practitioner within Australia
Essential: Minimum of 3 years postgraduate experience including 1 year of ICU
Essential: A sound knowledge of the practice of intensive care medicine including experience in the management of cardiothoracic patients.
Essential: Must possess airway skills and have current ALS certification
Essential: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
