Position Summary

With 524 beds, The Wesley Hospital provides tertiary level medical and surgical services across 30 specialty areas including cardiology, urology, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, maternity and women’s health. These services are supported by an intensive care unit, coronary care unit, cardiac catheter theatres, 24-hour emergency centre, renal dialysis, radiology, radiation therapy, pathology, pharmacy services, IVF, haematology and oncology services.


We are currently seeking to appoint a Patient Liaison Officer to join our Patient Services Team in a Permanent Part Time Opportunity

 

Responsible for the pre-admissions and admissions of our patients, you will provide an exceptional level of quality and customer service through processing all planned and unplanned admissions in a timely and efficient manner.

You will ensure all patients have financially consented to care, and accurately process and verify all details prior to admission.

 

Please note:

We offer a minimum of 40 hours per fortnight with the possibility to increase up to a maximum of 76 hours per fortnight. Hours of the role are within 06:00-03:00 with shift times including 06:00-16:30, 16:30-3:00 and 08:30-21:00. Please be aware that shifts range from 10 to 12 hours.

 

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing exceptional customer service to every patient of the Wesley Hospital and their families and loved ones during their admissions process
  • Processing all Preadmission registrations and documentation via HABS in a timely manner
  • Liaising with relevant services providers to seek approval documents for admission
  • Providing estimates for hospitalisation costs in line with TWH fees and charges
  • Processing admissions accurately ensuring all documentation and payments are taken
  • Completing health fund checks and collecting patient financial details
  • Other administrative duties involved in the admissions and preadmissions process

To be successful you will demonstrate:

  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence in managing your time effectively, prioritising your workload and working under pressure during high admission periods.
  • Strong computer literacy, with an ability to process financial transactions accurately
  • Understanding of health fund requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of medical terminology at an intermediate level
  • Commitment to further development
