Position Summary

With 524 beds, The Wesley Hospital provides tertiary level medical and surgical services across 30 specialty areas including cardiology, urology, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, maternity and women’s health. These services are supported by an intensive care unit, coronary care unit, cardiac catheter theatres, 24-hour emergency centre, renal dialysis, radiology, radiation therapy, pathology, pharmacy services, IVF, haematology and oncology services.

 

We are currently seeking to appoint several Orderly’s to our team in a Casual capacity,

 

You will be responsible for: 

  • Ensuring patient safety during procedures and transfers;
  • Handling of hospital equipment according to manufacturer’s and hospital instructions;
  • Demonstrating safe manual handling techniques and the effective use of mechanical lifting aids;
  • Understanding hospital emergency procedures;
  • Following hospital guidelines in relation to Infection Control (including hand washing and waste disposal;
  • Assisting nursing team members with various patient procedures. 

Ideally, the successful applicant will demonstrate the following criteria:

  • Good Interpersonal skills;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work as part of a team with or without supervision;
  • Ability to perform under pressure and prioritise workload;
  • Be available for shifts at short notice and at varying times;
  • Previous experience in an Orderly position would be an advantage, but not essential.
