St Andrews War Memorial Hospital are currently seeking to appoint a Clinical Nurse Specialist to apply their knowledge in Wound Care, Stoma and Continence Management.

 

Your Role:

 

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist you will provide exceptional patient care whilst assessing and responding appropriately to clinical nursing issues and concerns. Based on your experience, you will assisting with providing supervision and guidance within a multi-disciplinary team, through effective decision making and support.

 

As an experienced nurse, you will present with well-developed communication and customer service skills, with a passion for delivering person-centred care through a strong alignment to our values. You’ll be adept at managing conflicting priorities whilst remaining committed to strong patient advocacy.

 

You’ll hold a Graduate Certificate in Stomal Therapy Nursing as well as post grad qualifications OR 2 years clinical experience in wound and continence management. You’ll demonstrate:

 

  • Extensive clinical skills in pressure injury prevention assessment and management, wound and continence management, stomal therapy
  • High level of clinical decision making skills – including clinical assessments and implementation of plans
  • Previous mentoring/preceptorship to junior nursing staff, students and external wound/stoma students
  • Provision of ongoing professional development to staff through delivering education in your specialities

Remuneration value: Level 3 position, $51.53-$57.93 p/h (FTE $101, 823 - $114, 469), 9.5% employee contribution to super, 17.5% annual leave loading + not for profit salary packaging benefit + cumulative study leave.

 

This is permanent part time opportunity, working a base of 0.8 p/fortnight.

Selection Criteria Essential: Graduate Certificate in Stomal Therapy Nursing
Not Essential: Postgraduate qualifications (or working towards same) or 2 years or more clinical experience in wound and continence management
Essential: Demonstrates high level communication and interpersonal skills
Essential: Demonstrates a high level of skill in clinical decision making – in particular with accurate clinical assessment and implementation of management plans and strategies to optimise patient outcomes
Essential: Demonstrates high level of clinical skill in the areas of pressure injury prevention, assessment and management, wound and continence management, stomal therapy
Essential: Ability to work cohesively in a multi disciplinary team and to work independently of others
Essential: Ability to act as mentor or preceptor to less experienced nursing staff, students and external wound/stoma students
Essential: Experience in researching new products/developments and assisting with trialling and implementing evidence based products in the clinical environment
Essential: Actively contributes to the professional development of staff by providing education in the areas of wound, stoma, pressure injury and continence management
Essential: Strong commitment to own professional development
Essential: Demonstrated ability to be a patient advocate
