We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Clinical Coder / Health Information Advisor to join our team in a new permanent full time opportunity. 

 

Responsible for accurate and timely clinical classification, we are seeking a motivated and professional Senior Coder who can bring knowledge and experience to the team. Reporting to the Patient Revenue Manager, the Senior Clinical Coder / Health Information Advisor is accountable for:

  • Reviewing administrative processes and making necessary improvements to meet departmental and organisation requirements;
  • Timely and accurate classification of disease, operation and injury causes in accordance with the current nomenclature (ICD-10-AM);
  • Conducting and participating in quality activities to ensure continuous improvement of coding processes, patient record documentation and the collection of quality health data;
  • Maintaining current knowledge of coding practices and standards, casemix and related computer applications;
  • Facilitating patient record requests for various internal and approved external activities; releasing patient information as governed by legislative requirements;
  • Maintain the integrity of the PMI by upgrading the patient information and rectifying issues;
  • Attend hospital committee meetings as requested by the Patient Revenue Manager;
  • Identifying and implementing team training needs;
  • Other duties as required as services needs change and in grow, within scope of the role and other legal or industrial obligations.

 Ideally, you will demonstrate the following criteria:

  • Completion of a recognised ICD-10-AM coding course with achievement of a high standard of accuracy;
  • Practical knowledge and experience in current disease classification and its use with a hospital setting;
  • Demonstrated understanding of data quality and its application with a health service;
  • Sound skills and knowledge of casemix implications and requirements, legislative requirements governing patient information, medical terminology and health information processes;
  • High level communications skills with the ability to collaborate and communicate across organisational boundaries;
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to drive performance within the team.

Remuneration Value: Clinical Coding: $44.19 - $45.45 p/hour ($87, 319 - $89, 809), 9.5% employee contribution to super, 17.5% annual leave loading + not for profit salary packaging + discounted employee parking
