Position Summary

Due to an internal secondment, St Andrews are seeking an exceptional clinical leader to oversee our procedural services teams across our Theatres


With one of the highest acuity rates in Australia, St Andrews War Memorial is a highly-procedural based hospital, with 15 Operating Theatres, 3 Cardiac Cath Labs, 2 Endoscopy procedural rooms, a 15 Bed Intensive Care Unit as a well as a state-of-the-art Emergency Centre. Our $3 million purpose-built hybrid theatre is also one of the first of it’s kind to open in Queensland.


Completing over 24, 000 procedures annually, St Andrew’s offers cardiac surgery, cardiology, ear/nose/throat, endoscopy, general medicine, gynaecology, neuroscience, ophthalmology, oral and maxillofacial, orthopaedics, paediatric surgery, plastic surgery, rehabilitation, thoracic medicine, urology, vascular and general surgery.


Our opportunity:


Due to an internal secondment, we are seeking to appoint a Clinical Nurse Manager to oversee the running of our theatre complex. An initial 12-month appointment, there is potential for this to be extended.

Leading a large, multi-disciplinary team, you will oversee the ongoing delivery and development of procedural services across our 15 Theatres – applying your operational knowledge, leadership capability and communication skills to effectively lead your team to success.


You’ll collaborate effectively with other healthcare leaders in the hospital, working together to deliver optimal patient-outcomes through exceptional clinical care. A diverse role, you will: 

  • Achieve optimal patient outcomes and objectives through effective leadership and direction
  • Lead your people through identifying opportunities for development, learning, and improvement.
  • Build a cooperative working environment between members of a multi-disciplinary team, applying your skills to build a high functioning and outcome focused unit 
  • Maintain professional standards of practice through the evaluation of services and through key strategies
  • Ensure optimal procurement and allocation of resources, including recruitment and budgeting to achieve service objectives

As an advanced Clinician, you will demonstrate exceptional skills in Perioperative nursing, a passion for people leadership and strong patient advocacy. You’ll present with:

  • Significant clinical experience within a perioperative environment
  • Ability to lead a team to deliver contemporary, evidence-based patient care
  • Expertise and skills in managing a cost centre budget and people management
  • Advocacy and contribution towards quality initiatives and improvements
  • Bachelor of Nursing Degree or equivalent nursing qualification / AHPRA Registration
  • Post Graduate Qualifications in Management and Clinical Speciality (Desirable)
