UnitingCare Health is one of the largest not-for-profit private hospital groups in Queensland and is a service group of UnitingCare Queensland. The hospital group is a major provider of healthcare services in Queensland which operates almost 1000 licensed hospital beds and employs over 3800 people.

UnitingCare Health operates pharmacy services across a number of private hospitals in South East Queensland.  Our vision is to establish four Centres of Excellence in pharmacy practice, providing a stable framework for team members to further develop their skills in this dynamic field.

We currently have opportunities for Pharmacy Technicians to join the UnitingCare Health Pharmacy team on a part-time and full-time basis.

The Wesley Hospital, St. Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital and The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital provides tertiary level medical and surgical services across 30 specialty areas including cardiology, urology, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, maternity and women’s health. These services are supported by an intensive care unit, coronary care unit, cardiac catheter theatres, 24-hour emergency centre, renal dialysis, radiology, radiation therapy, pathology, pharmacy services, IVF, haematology and oncology services.

Pharmacy Technicians are responsible for providing support to UnitingCare Health Pharmacy with clinical and distributive pharmacy services aimed at achieving safe, efficient and cost effective use of medication and to promote the quality use of medicines.  You will be accountable for:

• Assisting with the Pharmacy dispensing workload;
• Assisting in the maintenance of hospital ward imprest pharmaceuticals;
• Delivery of controlled drugs to relevant areas in accordance with hospital policies and procedures and relevant legislation;
• Maintaining all Pharmacy areas including stock rotation storage requirements, expiry date checks, stock control checks, and general housekeeping tasks;  
• Undertaking other duties as assigned by the Site  Manager, Senior Technician or Technician Team Leader .

Ideally, the successful applicant will demonstrate the following criteria:  

• Previous experience in Pharmacy practice is essential;
• Ability to work efficiently, with minimum supervision, and prioritise tasks;
• Ability to communicate effectively and work with healthcare team members, patients and other professionals; 
• Certificate 3 in Hospital / Health Services Pharmacy Support (or equivalent);
• Intermediate to advanced technology and administration skills
• Previous experience in Hospital Pharmacy practice is preferred but not essential.
