Group Procurement and Services are currently recruiting for a Procurement Officer, who will report to the Category Manager Hospitality. This is an opportunity to join a fast changing and transforming organisation. This role presents an opportunity to make a real difference.

The role will support the development, implementation and on-going management of category strategies to deliver sustained value to the service groups and the business overall.

The key responsibilities of the role will include: 

• Research and gather information that supports the development and execution of category plans for service groups, to deliver value and benefits to the business;
• Consult with key stakeholders within the service groups to understand product and service requirements;
• Undertake tasks that relate to the contract management process, including but not limited to: undertaking market research, defining end user requirements, undertaking various sourcing strategies, coordinating evaluation processes, and preparing various procurement plans, briefs and reports;
• Analyse data, undertake research, and prepare draft reports that provide input into strategy development in relation to current and emerging markets and suppliers, and industry trends and opportunities;
• Participate in a team of procurement professionals, building personal knowledge and capabilities in procurement, and behaving in accordance with organisational values and policies;
• Monitor and manage contract/supplier performance on agreed Key Performance Indicators.

The successful applicant will bring: 

• A tertiary qualification in a business related discipline and/or Level 4 accreditation with CIPSA or other procurement systems certifications will be highly regarded;
• Previous experience in procurement (Sourcing, Category Management) or strategic business / commercial roles;
• Understanding of category management processes and demonstrated experience in implementing contract and supplier management strategies and techniques, including the ability to successfully manage tender evaluation processes;
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to work with all levels of stakeholders internally and with third parties;
• Knowledge of UCQ will be well regarded.
