With 524 beds, The Wesley Hospital provides tertiary level medical and surgical services across 30 specialty areas including cardiology, urology, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, maternity and women’s health. These services are supported by an intensive care unit, coronary care unit, cardiac catheter theatres, 24-hour emergency centre, renal dialysis, radiology, radiation therapy, pathology, pharmacy services, IVF, haematology and oncology services.


We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Medical Record Clerks to join our Health Information Unit in a Permanent Part Time or Casual capacity


You will be responsible for undertaking the various clerical duties including archiving, facilitating requests for patient information and providing access to patient records to internal and external customers.


As part of your role, you will: 

  • Maintain the integrity of patient records through accurate and timely administration
  • File and retrieve patient records as requested
  • Archive patient records, including scanning of patient information
  • Prepare and supply patient records to support patient care, morbidity and mortality reviews and various quality activities
  • Carry out any other tasks consistent with your role and as required by the HIU Manager.

 

By applying, you will demonstrate:

  • An advanced understanding of medical terminology through experience or equivalent Certificate in Medical Terminology
  • Understanding and ability to work in a highly confidential environment
  • Sounds interpersonal communication and organisational skills, enabling you to liaise with an array of health professionals.
  • Proven ability to work with in a team environment and to deadlines
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Previous Medical Record Department or hospital experience (desirable)
