Your part in The Wesley Hospital team

As the Medical Education Coordinator, you will be responsible for the coordination of the educational and administrative requirements of the Clinical School and our medical students during their placement, through the delivery of high-quality student academic support services.

 

You will:

  • Coordinate the core clinical rotations of the MBBS/MD Program.
  • Liaise and provide administrative support for the Practice Manager, Head of School and clinical teaching leads.
  • Act as liaison between all clinicians, the students and the universities, to ensure the smooth running of clinical placements and assist in the annual Clinical School student allocation process.
  • Liaise with other University elements, including academic and administrative staff in order to contribute towards the smooth and effective operation of the School.
  • Build ongoing relationships with a broad range of clinicians at each clinical site and work with them to obtain their participation in the clinical placements scheme and maintain their participation on a continuing basis.
  • Coordinate, organise and timetable discipline specific tutorials and seminars for students from multiple universities as well as holding regular meetings with student groups re ongoing needs as required.
  • Be responsible for the administration of medical student placements at the relevant clinical site e.g. hospitals and operating theatres, as well as organising and coordinating assessment and evaluation of the clinical placement programs.
  • Support the management of elective placements for both domestic and international students.
  • Amend tutorial programs as required to ensure appropriate learning and support for students.
  • Undertake other appropriate duties and ad hoc projects as directed by the Practice Manager and/or Head of School.
  • Provide coverage for staff absences in the Clinical School.

  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills including the preparation of minutes and documentation.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, teamwork and client service skills.
  • Understanding of staff confidentiality of information.
  • Demonstrates the ability to initiate action on specific matters and implement follow-up within the scope of the role.
  • Ability to present in a professional and empathetic manner to medical students
  • Flexibility to work across both Metro sites as required; The Wesley Hospital in Auchenflower and St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital in Spring Hill.

Desirable

  • Previous administrative experience in a University or HealthCare industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with the needs of tertiary students.
