UnitingCare Health is one of the largest not-for-profit private hospital groups in Queensland and is a service group of UnitingCare Queensland. With 524 beds, The Wesley Hospital provides tertiary level medical and surgical services across 30 specialty areas including cardiology, urology, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, maternity and women’s health. These services are supported by an intensive care unit, coronary care unit, cardiac catheter theatres, 24-hour emergency centre, renal dialysis, radiology, radiation therapy, pathology, pharmacy services, IVF, haematology and oncology services.

The Volunteer Department is one mechanism for the community to participate in life at the Wesley. With over 475 dedicated volunteers, the department is committed to providing quality support and essential services to teams and patients throughout the Hospital.

As the Volunteer Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of the Wesley’s Volunteer Program. This includes volunteering activities in the Volunteer Cottage as well as various ward and  unit based activities. It is a wide role and includes the recruitment, training and development of volunteers as they make their contribution to the life of the hospital. This  is an extremely rewarding role will allow you to demonstrate your relationship building skills, time management abilities and your initiative and judgement to effectively manage and prioritise tasks to meet department objectives.

Ideally, the successful applicant will demonstrate the following criteria:

• Experience in the recruitment, training and coordination of volunteers.
• Formal qualifications in a management or human service discipline will be highly regarded. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software packages.
• Professional presentation and communication skills.
• Excellent high level organisational and time management skills.
