Allied Health Metro is an established service, bringing together the Allied Health teams from The Wesley Hospital and St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital into one clinical service, with a single management team.  The integration provides opportunities for innovation, efficiencies, growth in services and improved productivity. 

Allied Health Metro provides all Allied Health services (inpatient, ambulatory and outpatient) at both Hospitals.  Allied Health Metro comprises of support staff and health professionals from Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Nutrition, Exercise Physiology, Nursing and Psychology.

As a member of the Allied Health Metro, Senior Leadership team, the Head of Physiotherapy will be required to collaborate with other Heads of Profession, Operational Managers, Partners and Hospital Senior Leadership teams to achieve first class interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary patient centred care.

The Head of Physiotherapy, will be responsible for providing leadership and clinical governance to ensure excellence in the delivery of Physiotherapy Services to patients and their families.  You will ensure Physiotherapy Services are provided in a safe, appropriate, efficient and responsive environment, whilst promoting continuous improvement by all Allied Health team members including skilling, clinical education and research. 

Ideally, the successful applicant will demonstrate the following criteria:

• Tertiary qualifications in Physiotherapy;
• A postgraduate tertiary qualification in a clinical or health management field is highly desirable;
• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency or appropriate professional body (where required) ;   
• Demonstrated, relevant clinical experience in a comparable (acute hospital or ambulatory service)  setting;
• Proven Allied Health clinical leadership, team development and managerial skills in an environment of organisational change in the delivery of Allied Health services;
• Demonstrated high level of interpersonal and written communication skills including negotiation, conflict resolution, change management and partnership building;
• Demonstrated evidence of involvement in clinical governance, quality assurance and research activities;
• Proven experience in providing authoritative counsel in matters relating to clinical areas of expertise to stakeholders both within and outside the discipline;
• Sound knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety and clinical risk management;
• Sound level of computer literacy in Microsoft application.
