Position Summary

The Wesley Hospital is one of Queensland’s largest private, tertiary hospitals and proudly services over 80,000 patients from Australia and overseas annually.

 

Established in 1977, The Wesley has grown to be a ‘magnet hospital’ attracting and retaining highly qualified and caring staff. With 538 beds, the hospital employs over 2300 full-time, part-time and casual staff, providing values based holistic care to patients and their families.

 

We are currently inviting applications for the role of Engineering and Maintenance Supervisor, overseeing the reliable operation of the Hospital’s Building and Non-Biomedical services.


A diverse role, you will manage the day-to-day supervision of maintenance activities within the workshop, ensuring efficient utilization of tradesmen and external contractors. You’ll be responsible for the prioritization of jobs, work allocation and repairs whilst meeting budgetary targets and actively seeking out cost reduction opportunities: You will:

  • Develop and implement planned maintenance programs.
  • Oversee major repair and expenditure (up to $5,000.)
  • Ensure scheduled-programmed maintenance is carried out on fixed plant and equipment.
  • Undertake special projects and related duties in conjunction with the Manager Engineering Department.
  • Encourage participation and ensure compliance of subordinate staff in workplace health and safety, continuous quality improvement and staff training activities.

In addition, you’ll be accountable to maintain and provide technical support of an out of hours emergency repair service.

 

About You:


You will hold a trade qualification with extensive experience (10 years) with supervisory experience within an engineering environment. You’ll present with:

  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to effectively coordinate support services
  • A knowledge of the various Standards, Regulations and Legislation applicable to the engineering and maintenance services of a Hospital.
  • Sound experience in mechanical and electrical engineering also the operation and maintenance of all steam, air conditioning, electrical and other plant and equipment usually found in a large Hospital.
  • Sound commitment to meeting WHS compliance and regulatory standards
  • Computer literacy
