UnitingCare Queensland (UCQ) provides health and community services to thousands of people everyday. As the health and community service provider of the Uniting Church we have supported Queensland communities for over 100 years.  Our 15,000 staff and 9,000 volunteers care for and support people from all walks of life, including older people, people with a disability, children, families and Indigenous people.

 

UCQ is currently embarking on a large transformation program to help us better position ourselves to deliver on our mission and to be sustainable in the long term.  In conjunction with this transformation we are now looking for a Lead, Wellness and Injury Management to join our Workplace Health and Safety team to deliver health and wellness programs aligned to UnitingCare Queensland’s strategic directions.

 

THE ROLE 

 

Reporting to the Lead, Workplace Health and Safety, you will be responsible for promoting health and wellness programs to UCQ employees in order to assist injured workers coordinate their rehabilitation and recovery at work.  You will also work closely with HR, other WHS colleagues and management to provide a consistent service with a focus on early injury recovery, durable recovery plans and wellness for all employees.  As the Lead, Wellness and Injury Management you will be responsible for: 

  • Identifying UCQ employee health and wellness needs and delivering cost effective health and wellness programs;
  • Liaising with key internal stakeholders to ensure programs are fit for purpose;
  • Report key findings and progress of Health and Wellness programs and monitor wellness indicators to the WHS Lead;
  • Providing advice and working collaboratively with other HR / WHS professionals, managers and supervisors and other relevant parties in assisting workers and employers through the recover at work process;
  • Coordinate case and claim loads among Injury Management Advisors;
  • Review and provide advice to Injury Management Advisors on all significant injury or condition case management;
  • Monitors workers’ compensation and rehabilitation legislative requirements and implements system changes to ensure compliance;
  • Other Injury Management and HR related duties as directed by the WHS Lead.

ABOUT YOU

 

Ideally the successful candidate will demonstrate the following criteria: 

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources or Allied Health related field would be advantageous;
  • Demonstrated experience in workers’ compensation, and significant experience in an HR or WHS Advisor role, preferably in the health or community care industry;
  • Ability to effectively liaise with a variety of stakeholders to achieve optimal rehabilitation outcomes;
  • Valid drivers’ licence;
  • Ability to work autonomously, as a senior member of a small team;
  • Sound knowledge of employee relations practices and issues;
  • Knowledge of HR and IT systems;
  • High level verbal and written communication skills.
